Background
MS Finance enables smarter decision making at Microsoft by plugging hundreds of thousands of data points into machine learning algorithms, which make predictions on future revenue, costs, headcount, even contracts at risk. The software can advise on which jobs Microsoft should hire for, and how adding people to those roles correlates to sales increases. These machine learning finance tools are working so well that they are even being sold to Microsoft’s competitors! I worked with Amy Hood’s team to design and implement several iterations of the Modern Finance site to showcase the technology, solutions, and customer success stories.
Problem Statement
The Finance group at Microsoft asked for a custom SharePoint site design to reflect their updated mission, program roles, solutions, and Amy Hood’s vision for the future.
Project Goal
Provide a modernized layout that could be created within the constraints of SharePoint to replace Finance’s existing antiquated design.
Process
I worked with stakeholders to clarify and define their goals for this redesign and presented multiple rounds of iterations to gather feedback. I simultaneously worked hand-in-hand with the development team as to ensure all design elements and functionality were easily executable within the constraints of SharePoint.
Results
The Microsoft Finance group now has a modernized SharePoint site that consolidates all their key benefits, features and programs into one clean design. Feedback has been very positive, with other groups within Microsoft requesting similar redesigns (CELA, among others).
