An advertising executive in the automotive direct mail industry contacted me, hoping to start producing apps for iOS instead of printing mailers. We partnered up, and I created designs for the pilot iPad app, iMercedes.
I retrieved the latest brand and product photography assets from Mercedes directly, then got to work designing editorial layouts and advertising spreads. The final iOS app contained embedded video and other interactive elements as well as the standard content one would find in a traditional print magazine.
The return on investment here was remarkable: we were able to sign up hundreds of dealerships nationwide onto our program, which had a far greater reach and better cost efficiency compared to traditional printed direct mail pieces.
